Dearest Surrogate:
Words feel woefully inadequate to express the immensity of our gratitude for you. Yet, in the face of such extraordinary generosity, silence feels even more deafening. So, here I am, attempting to articulate the boundless thankfulness that washes over me every time I look at our precious daughter, the miracle you so lovingly carried and gifted to us.
For years, the dream of parenthood felt tantalizingly close, yet frustratingly out of reach. We were part of that stark statistic – 1 in 8 couples wrestling with the agonizing grip of infertility. Each month brought a tidal wave of hope followed by the crushing weight of disappointment. The longing to nurture a life within me, to feel the rhythm of tiny kicks, and to hear the first, sweet cries, turned into a bittersweet ache that permeated every aspect of our lives.
Then, like a beacon in the darkness, you appeared. Your kindness, your unwavering courage, and your selfless desire to help another family realize their dream was a revelation. You didn’t just agree to carry our child; you welcomed us into your heart, sharing your body and nurturing a love that transcended biology.
The journey wasn’t always easy. There were fears, anxieties, and the constant tug-of-war between the joy of pregnancy and the all too common pregnancy ailments, i.e. morning sickness etc. Yet, throughout it all, you were a pillar of strength and grace. You embraced every doubt and question with patience and understanding, always reminding us that this was a shared journey, an intricate dance of hope and vulnerability.
And then, the day arrived. The day our beautiful daughter, the culmination of all our dreams and prayers, entered the world. As I held her for the first time, a kaleidoscope of emotions swirled within me – overwhelming joy, profound gratitude, and an abiding love for you, the woman who had made this miracle possible.
You didn’t just give us a child, dear surrogate. You gave us a second chance at life, a chance to paint our world with the vibrant hues of parenthood. You are our hero, the angel who answered our prayers with boundless compassion and unwavering generosity.
With every giggle, every gurgle, and every milestone our daughter reaches, we’ll be reminded of your immense gift. You may not have her DNA, but your love, your spirit, and your courage are woven into the very fabric of her being. And for that, we will be eternally grateful.
Thank you, from the depths of our hearts, for choosing to be a part of our story. You are forever loved and cherished, not just as our child’s surrogate, but as a dear friend, a kindred spirit, and the woman who made our family whole.
With deepest love and unwavering appreciation,
A Loving Mother
